FAQ

Where do you ship to?

I am delighted to offer worldwide shipping from Toronto, Canada! From North America to Europe, Asia to Australia, and everywhere in between, I am thrilled to ship my artwork to customers worldwide. Please note that international shipping times and customs procedures may vary depending on your location.

If you have any specific shipping inquiries or concerns, feel free to reach out to me at marinboylezines@gmail.com. I am here to assist you and make sure your artwork arrives safely!

Do you require a deposit for commissions?

Yes, I require a 20% commission once I assign you a date. You must pay the deposit within THREE days of being given a date. If you do not pay within those 3 days, your spot will go to the next person on the list. I require the remainder of payment before your hoop ships.

How much do commissions cost?

Please see the pricing page for more information on how I price body portrait commissions. Please see the pet portrait embroidery page for pet portrait pricing. Please note that the prices listed are base prices only, and if you'd like extensive embellishments or 2+ people or pets included, that will be added to the cost.

Can you frame my embroidery for me?

While I do not offer framing services at the moment, I can certainly accommodate your request by leaving extra fabric around the edges of your embroidery piece. This allows you the flexibility to frame it according to your personal taste and style.

I recommend reaching out to professional framers who specialize in textile art or embroidery framing. They possess the expertise and knowledge to provide you with advice on selecting the right frame and matting, ensuring the long-term preservation and protection of your artwork.

If you have any specific requests or preferences regarding the extra fabric, please let me know during the ordering process, and I will be happy to accommodate your needs!

What kind of reference photos do you need?

This is a bit of a tricky question, because it really does depend on what you're wanting. Reference photos should be clear, well-lit and naturally posed.
Reference photos for other kinds of custom hoops can be anything! I've used many things as references; rough sketches, screenshots from videos, past hoops I've made, reference photos from nature etc.

Can you embroider my partner/friend/etc as a surprise?

I deeply value ethical practices and prioritize the consent and privacy of individuals. As such, I require explicit and informed consent from anyone who will be featured in my custom embroidery art.

Embroidering someone, including your partner, without their knowledge or consent may intrude upon their personal boundaries and privacy. It is important to respect their autonomy and involve them in the decision-making process.

I recommend discussing your idea with your partner, expressing your desire to immortalize them in a unique and meaningful embroidery art piece. By involving them in the process, you can ensure their comfort, provide an opportunity for input, and jointly create a special artwork that celebrates your bond.

Remember, surprises can still be delightful when they are thoughtfully planned and mutually agreed upon.

What kind of fabric do you embroider on?

I usually use two layers of 6oz/170g white quilting cotton. If you desire a coloured or patterned fabric, you can choose from my extensive collection.
